No matter who you are, throughout your day, just beneath your consciousness, your muscles are holding tension.
Some of this tension is incredibly necessary - it helps you sit and stand upright and move forward through life. But the unnecessary tension can come from a smorgasbord of origins: injury, compensations during injury recovery, emotional or physical trauma, low level stress, postural habits, the list goes on. Eventually, for many of us, this starts to cause chronic pain, and sometimes results in structural damage! It can even impact the function of your organs!
In this 90 minute introductory workshop, we will explore the principles of a Somatic Movement practice, how and why it works, and go to work on exploring and releasing common muscle tension found in the body.
